A Santa Rosa woman is recovering after being gored by a bull bison at Yellowstone National Park, officials with the National Park Service reported. The incident happened Wednesday as Kim Hancock, 59, of Santa Rosa was among a crowd of people walking along a boardwalk who came within 10 yards of the bison, according to an NPS statement. "At one point people were closer than 15 feet from the basin," park officials said of the incident at Fountain Paint Pot in the Lower Geyser Basin. "When it crossed the boardwalk, the bison became agitated and charged the crowd, goring Hancock." The bison immediately left the area, officials said. Rangers responded and treated Hancock for a hip injury. Paramedics then took Hancock by ambulance to Big Sky Medical Center in Big Sky, Montana, where she was listed in good condition, according to the park service. Park officials are investigating the incident and say it was the second time this year a bison has injured a visitor to the park. In a little over a month, four people have been injured by wildlife in Yellowstone, park officials said. Source:
